In high school, everyone is trapped inside this very small, close-minded bubble. People do not realize there is a huge world outside the bubble. Life seems very confining. Don't get me wrong. I loved my high school. From pep rallies to spirit week, homecoming, Halloween, basketball games, soccer games, fooling around in gym class, and lastly the familiarity. It was all great and I could not be happier with the friends that came out of my high school experience and the education I received, but there is so much more to life than high school. Life is different in college. Life is better. Life begins now.
Our parents for years have protected us and cared for us. Until that one day in late August comes around when you have to stop going to your favorite Chinese food place,(Bambou I miss you), clothing stores, nail salons, delis and diners. Everything changes. I will be the first one to admit I was scared for college. Change has always been something that has been hard for me to grasp. Something this time was different, though. Something this time was empowering, exciting and fresh. The second I walked into college life just seemed fuller, days seemed longer, and life just seemed better. The new friends, the new classes, the new room, the new foods, the new gym, the new parties, the new library, everything was just new, exciting, and full. This new journey is something that makes me feel very excited and extremely appreciative. You could be whoever you want in college and we all must never take a day for granted because this time only comes around in life once.
"Enjoy it , it goes by too fast" a senior the first week of school told my friends and I. So don't take the four years for granted because you will never get this time back. Take cool VSCO pics, try every dining hall, become friends with people in your dorm and in your clubs and classes, eat pizza with your friends at 4:00 a.m., be the loud ones on your floor ( not too loud ), establish good relationships with professors, have dance parties, eat all the cookies in the dining hall, and lastly have the best four years of your life. Life is too short so make the years and memories count.
