If you haven't heard of Pokémon Go yet, you might be living under a rock. It was released very recently, but basically everyone is already playing it. What makes it so great?
You get to actually go out and find Pokémon. This isn't a normal game from Nintendo, as you actually have to leave your house to make progress in the game. You have to travel around your town or city to go to different locations to get more items, find locations where certain Pokémon can be found. If you live in the middle of no where like me, be expected to find a whole lot of Rattatas and Pidgeys...
No really, they're everywhere, I just want to find a Pickachu...
I honestly think Pokémon Go is the best thing to happen this year so far. It's getting people out of the house, where they're probably sulking because this year has been crazy weird, and getting them to run around with a purpose. You can just randomly meet people on the street now and bond with them because you can pretty much tell those who are playing the game. It's that slow walk, looking down at the phone, possibly going in weird directions because the stupid Charizard won't stay still.
There's also three different teams you can join (although team Mystic is the best, let's be honest), so if those people you're meeting are on your team, you're in for a good time. You can go to the different gym locations in your city and work with them to take over the gym, which might be taken by one of the other teams.
This doesn't mean it can't be sketchy to play it though. I wouldn't exactly advise walking around in an unfamiliar neighborhood at night just because you've got to catch that elusive Pokémon, because unfortunately everything isn't roses in our universe. I predict that in a couple of years, however, everyone will be too preoccupied with catching them all for there to be any war or hatred. It will only be peace, love, and Pokémon.
Anyway, it's a great game. It can be a little glitchy, but it was just released, so I don't expect it to be running super smooth. It's just really nice to see everyone getting outside and having fun together, since most of the games we've been playing in recent years don't require you to do something like that. Go out, have fun, catch Pokémon, and try not to run into traffic.
