PDA or Privacy?

If you want your relationship to be private, then don't engage in PDA.

Yippee-ki-yay Mother F*****, is the phrase that pops up in the subtitles on my television screen. I watch and listen in total amusement as Bruce Willis casually says this phrase as he does some badass thing on screen once again. What better way to kick off Christmas Break then by watching a Christmas classic, that is Die Hard.

A group of us all gather in the living room to take part in this phenomenon.

However, it seems like I am the only one engrossed in the movie. Everyone else seems to be focused on something else. My friend seems to be fully engaged with my brother’s friend in a game of Would You Rather. They continue to entertain one another as they ask what famous person they would rather screw.

Then there is my brother who seems more fixated on his girlfriend then watching the movie. And it was his idea to watch one of his favorite movies. But with his girlfriend seeming glued to him at the hip, on the living room couch, this movie was the last thing on his mind.

I continue to watch this movie that now seems to only have my attention.

A few minutes go by, and my interest in the movie begins to fade. I turn to take a quick glance at my brother and his girlfriend.

I begin to see the two canoodling on the couch. Her back is completely turned to the television, and they are laying face to face.

Now I'm not one to stare at public display of affection, but it can truly trigger anyone's interest.

They begin to cuddle each other and whisper words to each other. He begins to caress her face and she begins to pet his head like a dog.

So now my interest has gone from curious to absolutely disgusted. I have nothing against relationships, but it was pretty weird seeing my little brother exhibit PDA with his girlfriend.

So of course now I am annoyed. Here we are trying to enjoy this movie that he picked out, and he is busy flirting with his girlfriend.

So I open my big mouth and say something along the lines of why are you guys cuddling and are you gonna take a break to watch the movie.

At this moment, I knew that I royally screwed up.

He sits up and just stares at me. I can't recall exactly what he said. It had something to do with minding my own business and included a few obscenities directed towards me.

I could tell I embarrassed him. I later found out that he was upset because he felt this was an invasion of his privacy.

He continues to tell me this from time to time when he catches me staring at them, or make a comment. Of course, my response is that he is doing it in front of me, so he shouldn't get mad.

He usually gets angry and the obscenities once again get thrown at me.

The moral of the story seems to be to keep your mouth shut when experiencing PDA.

But no.

To me, the moral of the story is if you don't want people to meddle in your pda, then don't exhibit PDA. Especially in front of your older sister. That's common sense. What do you think is gonna happen? They will just mind their own business and stay quiet. You're smarter than that dude. You know me better than that.

So was it just PDA or did I invade his privacy?

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
