The PCB-Hater's Guide to Spring Break

The PCB-Hater's Guide to Spring Break

In college, spring break usually means one thing: the beach. A whole week dedicated to not remembering it. However, there are other places to go for spring break, shocker I know. Here are some pretty solid alternatives to the beach.

New York City.

Who doesn’t want to visit the city that never sleeps? Besides checking out all the touristy things like the Statue of Liberty and going to the top of the Empire State Building, New York City has an abundance of places to go. Stalk Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers or your favorite SNL cast member at 30 Rock. Grab a cup of coffee and your best pair of Ray Bans and strut around Central Park like a celebrity, or head to the West Village and the Meatpacking District to get lost among the charming shops, coffee houses and, at night, the bars. Just be prepared for a little cold weather.

Los Angeles.

This is the ultimate tourist city. Let your inner stalker free to see how many celebrity sightings you can manage in a week. Go shopping on Rodeo Drive, Melrose Ave. or make the drive to Orange County and hit up Fashion Island. While in L.A., you can get your beach fix with a short drive. You can also go to the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland. Don’t forget to grab an acai bowl!

Home.

Don’t underestimate the greatness of going home for spring break. A full week of laying on the couch, eating, watching Netflix, and cuddling with your pets. No responsibilities, no work, no worries. What more could you want? I think I just convinced myself to rethink my own spring break plans.

Colorado.

Want to have the complete opposite of a beach trip but still have vague memories? Skiing is definitely the next best option. Spend the day skiing (or in my case falling) down the slopes, and spend the nights out in the ski resort bars. Win win situation.

Road Trips.

There are a few famous routes in America that are great for road trips. Route 66 and Pacific Coast Highway are the main ones. There are travel companies that provide itineraries and places to stop along the way. Grab your best friends and make some memories to last a lifetime. And you can document on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook.

NOLA.

Besides being filled with great food and history (AHS Coven, anyone?), New Orleans is a great destination for spring break. Visit the French Quarter and stuff your face with beignets or get your fill of blues and jazz. During the day, hit up the shops that you can’t find anywhere else or take a tour of all the haunted places in New Orleans-brb signing up for that right now. Bourbon Street is the main attraction at night, and is practically a guarantee to not remember the night.

So, all you non-beach goers, take your pick.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
