Summer! It is a wonderful season filled with all of the possibilities in the world. You can do what ever your heart desires. Sleep in until one in the afternoon? Sure! Jump in the car with some friends and go for a car trip? Of course! Water park, amusement park, shopping spree, or a big bonfire? Yes to all of them!!! There is just one thing that is holding you back from making your summer the best summer ever... Money.

If you are like me, you do not have a bottomless bank account. Also, you may suffer from all of the other expenses that you may have, like rent, insurance, and car payments and what not. However, I've found a solution. Here are a few methods that I have used to help fund my summer fun.

1. The summer job

Many businesses, especially in or near college towns, are usually looking for summer help. These jobs range from wait staff at a resturant to a cashier at a gas station or even a housekeeper in a hotel. If you are a college student and you do not already have a job, you may be able to find a job where you can transfer from place to place if you want.

2. Babysitting/Nannying

Are you good with kids? Being a babysitter will be great for you. Many times the families of the kids you watch will pay for you to do stuff with them on top of what they are paying you. That means not only will they pay you to watch their kids but they may pay for food, drinks, tickets to movies, admission to water parks/amusement parks, and even gas to drive to the places!!!

3. Pet Sitting

Do you love animals? Pet sitting may be a great job for you. Your family members or friends may be going out of town for vacations and may not be able to bring their furry (scaly or feathery) friends with them. This is usually a really easy job which may involve feeding the animals, giving them water, and letting them outside to go to the bathroom. This may also include watering flowers around the home and picking up the mail and newspaper. Big perks of the job is you get to play with some furry friends, hang out, and watch some T.V.

4. Garage Sale

Do you have a lot of stuff you do not use anymore? Old games, clothes, books, old Christmas decorations? Gather it all together and have a garage or yard sale. Even let your extended family or friends bring stuff over to expand the list of people that are likely to show up and buy something.

5. Online For Sale Groups

Do you have a messy garage? Do you even have a garage? If not there are lots of other great ways to sell your old stuff that you have laying around. Craigslist, eBay, Facebook for sale groups, and there are even apps on smart phones to sell things. Some of those apps are Letgo, OfferUp, and Close5.

6. Start your own business

Are you good at drawing or painting? Start drawing and painting for people. Maybe you excell in school or a specific subject? Tutor. There is a famous saying by The Joker, "If you are good at something, never do it for free." Take what you are good at and put it into good use and make some money.

7. Lawn care

Mowing lawns is a pretty easy job that almost anyone can do... so why not you? You can mow lawns for family, friends, neighbors and even some businesses may want you to mow for them. Not only can you make some good money, you can even work on that summer tan you were wanting to get!

8. Car wash

Do you like washing cars? Start a car washing service or get some friends together and have a car wash and detailing service. People will pay good money for a hand wash car, and even more if you detail the interior.

9. Investing

This is something that I think is really cool but will not necessarily make you a lot of money very quickly. One cool thing that you can use is an app called Acorn. This app allows you to invest into different things along with another cool feature for a small monthly fee. You can link a debit or credit card and when you use that card it will round up to the nearest dollar and will add it to your investing stocks. So if you spend $11.53, Acorn will round up to $12 and add 47 cents to your investing stocks. This also can help you plan out an investment plan for your future. Bonus perk for college students, if you link your college e-mail you do not have to pay any fees.

Long story short, there are tons of ways for you to make a quick buck this summer and for you to start having fun!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
