The Paths That Never Crossed Again

Our friendship wasn't destined to last forever

It's crazy how close you can be with some people. You know each other like the back of your hand. You finish each others sentences. You spend every minute you can with each other. When certain songs come on, they were your songs. The songs you two belted out while on the way to the mall or to grab some lunch. You had a common place where you always met and you thought you guys were always meant to be sisters, not best friends.

But then over time, you gain different goals in life. You start down a new, intriguing path and they stay on the same, old path that you two once walked. After awhile your paths may run parallel, but usually not. Yours tends to go in a separate direction due to all the turns and loops, taking you further and further from their path.

You both experience new things, find new friends, and find new common places. When you later think about it, you see how much life has changed. Not only yours, but theirs. You listen to different songs. Your friends don't resemble them at all. You are studying in school and they aren't. You wind up in two totally different places even though at one point you were in the same exact spot.

You lose them. You lose track of them from all the stresses of life and how busy you are. You put in the effort to see each other, but it never works out. And you two are now totally different people and your paths don't cross anymore. Maybe it's for the best, but deep down you still think about them when that one song comes on. They cross your mind, but not your path. But then again, maybe it was destined to be that way after all.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help.
