Alright, I’m about to get super nerdy for a second. About two years ago, I changed my major to advertising and instantly became intrigued. After studying this area for almost two years, I have realized that advertising is the most underappreciated and overlooked field. People don’t realize how much they are impacted by advertising each day.

This creative and intriguing field is something that businesses and people cannot do without. We don’t recognize the genius approaches and strategies, but advertising rules the world. I know that everyone has their own area of passion, they just have to find it. Hopefully sharing mine will persuade you to find yours.

1. We will always need advertising.

Though people don’t realize how important it is to society, advertising will always be around. This is something that just keeps growing. With the digital age we are in, advertising is getting more and more prominent. Technology is so much different now than it was when we were young.

Now we can collect information on consumers to develop specific campaigns and marketing strategies. In the past, that data was not near as easy to get our hands on. This will never go out of style, and it is only going to grow larger and faster. With the technology that is available, there is no limit to the targets you can reach.

2. You are impacting many.

Not only are you producing solutions to client’s problems, you get to do it in a way that leaves a lasting impression. In the internships I have had, along with my own freelance work, I have been able to completely turn companies and campaigns around. Not only do you get to do the behind the scenes work too, you get to produce something to reach many people. There is no better feeling than really getting to see the positive impact of what your work has accomplished.

3. Creativity is valued.

Since starting in advertising, I have got my feet wet in pretty much every area. Being a right-brained and creative minded person, I realized that I can use my skills in many different ways. Doesn’t matter what position you hold in advertising or marketing, your creativity drives the whole concept.

In a lot of other areas of life, the type A person might be expected to have all the answers. In this field, the difference in skills is valued. Creativity is encouraged and used to better the project.

Yes, I just typed like 500 words about how much I love my major, but it’s fine. We all have our thing. I’m excited to see where this career path takes me and am excited to learn even more. I hope that you find your passion just like I have. What is the point in doing something for the rest of your life if you don’t enjoy what you’re getting out of bed for?

I spared you, because I could talk your ear off all day about this, but hopefully this inspired you to go find what career you’ll be passionate about, or to remind you why you fell in love with your career in the first place. Life is too short to not love what you do.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
