10 Ways To Pass Time When You're Stranded In An Airport

In This Article:

Leading up to one of my flights this summer, I experienced an unplanned delay that had me stuck at the airport for an extra three hours. As I sat there, I thought of different ways to keep myself entertained while waiting for my plane to arrive. Next time you experience a painful delay or layover, try one of these tips below to help pass the time!

1. Read

Reading is an easy and productive way to pass time. If you don't happen to have a book with you, there are bound to be gift shops with decent reads available! Another option is to download a book or audiobook on your tablet or another device.

2. People watch

The airport is full of different types of people traveling to all sorts of places. There are often the same types of individuals, which makes people watching at an airport so much fun.

3. Watch the planes

In addition to watching people in an airport, it is also entertaining to watch the planes land and take off!

4. Binge watch

Grab your device and turn on Netflix, Hulu, or any other streaming service. Time to binge watch the next series you've been dying to start.

5. Eat

Every airport that I have been to has multiple restaurants and coffee shops near each terminal, so don't be afraid to grab a bite to eat while sitting through a delay or layover.

6. Drink

7. Make a new friend

If you have something to work on for work or for school, take this time to be productive!

9. Walk

If you don't feel like sitting down, go for a walk! Airports are relatively large, so it could be a good opportunity to get your steps in.

Sleep

If you are too tired from traveling, take a nap by your gate. Just don't sleep through departure!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever.
