Where Is The Love

Pass the love, not the hate.

Where Is The Love

Something that has been said multiple times lately is "How come I can accept you and your beliefs but you can not accept me and mine?" Why is it so easy for everyone to pass the hate, but not the love? We are all together in one world; why not make it a wonderful one.

There are many people out there who claim they only want peace and love for everyone, yet they are the ones throwing the knives. Martin Luther King Jr. once said one of the greatest quotes "Darkness can not drive out darkness only light can do that. Hate can not drive out hate, only love can do that." So I ask you, if everyone wants peace then why is there so much hate around us? Accept that people are different. That is how we were made; to be different, to have different opinions. What an awfully boring world it would be if we all thought the same way and agreed on everything! Opinions are opinions because everyone is entitled to one. Would you want someone to take away your right to have an opinion? Absolutely not. So why are people trying to take away someone else's? You should love someone even if their opinions are completely opposite of yours. Why? Because everyone is an individual and nothing is greater then having individuality. Be the best you that you can be, no can ever be you, only you can. "Wanting to be someone else is a waste of who you are" - Kurt Cobain.

Martin Luther King Jr. stated, "I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear." Hating anything makes the worst come out of someone. Why would you want to bring that out, when there is such a wonderful person inside each and every one of us? One of my personal reasons for not wanting to hate another is simple, I am not them and I do not know where they have been. "Everybody's at war with different things...I'm at war with my own heart sometimes." - Tupac Shakur. I also believe everyone has a potential to be an amazingly kind and caring person and if you confront someone with hate, they might become filled with it. So I ask of you to spread love not hate. Be kind to one another and let everyone have their own opinion because that is what makes us individual. Albert Einstein once said "It is important to foster individuality, for only the individual can produce the new ideas." This world would be at a constant stand still without different opinions, so though you may not agree, they are needed. Please be mindful of your words because once they are said they can not be taken back. Words are very powerful and have a very big impact on people, they are never forgotten; so please be kind. Pass the love not the hate. Love can conquer anything, even a difference of opinions.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.

I've known you your entire life. More than likely I held you in the first three days of it and at least one of us cried. Cousins are truly one of the best things in the world and while sometimes I complain about how many people crowd Grandma's living room on Christmas Eve, I wouldn't trade you all anything.

You are my best friends, the only people who can understand what it's like on Thanksgiving, and you are the spunkiest people I have ever met. But you as so so young, most of you are just now starting your adventures in the public education system. I mean, I'm so very young too. I'm not married, I don't have children, heck, I just started my adult life, but I do want to give you what little advice I have. My dears, these are the things I want you to know.
