I know I am not the only one that feels as if you're living in the wrong place, or in the wrong city. How there is always an urge deep beneath your skin that aches, and aches, craving for you to just get up and make a change in your life. You never quite know what exact 'change' that ache is lusting after, but you do know you need it so desperately. Don't get me wrong, this desire to move does not necessarily mean you are unhappy with where you are at this particular moment in your life, it just means that you have an appetite for change and no one likes being hungry for too long.
Currently a junior in college, I know that I cannot just get up and drop my current life behind to quench this thirst for change-partly because society needs me to get a degree in four years, but mostly because I am monetarily challenged paying for this degree. I would love more than anything to stand in front of a beautiful map of the world, with a dart clenched in my hand, waiting to throw it at my future. But life isn't that dream. Reality is not so easy. What I wouldn't give to let a dart decide my fate, to leave everything up to chance, instead of meticulous planning of the future. I mean, wouldn't you?
Aren't you curious what else is there in the world? What other places you could see, the food you could try, and people you might meet? Personally, I do not like to stay in the same city for longer than a few years, considering the world we live in is a treasure chest of pearls, jewels, and gold, waiting to be opened and explored. Like the pirates, we all used to admire as children, we are all on a constant hunt for something. After all, who hasn't, at some point in their life, dreamt of being a pirate- a life full of chance, possibility, and treasure.
I don't know about you, but I am willing to let a dart pinpoint my future, and show me what I have been missing out on. Who knows where it'll land? A small European town filled with ancient history and narrow sidewalks, or a modern-day metropolis where cultures meet, and the buildings extend into space. Possibly, a hidden corner of the world, untouched by corruption and McDonald's franchises, or maybe the dart will spare you the travel expense, and land on a city not far from your current home. Nevertheless, no matter where chance strikes, it will be a fantastic adventure-I have always been ready for that adventure, I am merely waiting for the right time. Then again, if I am to leave my future up to a dart and a hanging map of the world, why care about the conception of time at all-time-holding us back and being a constant excuse for what we haven't done.
I think I'll take the chance.
