Party Guide to Art Basel Week 2016
Art Basel

One of the most foremost international modern and contemporary art fair is coming back to Miami for its 15-year installment - Art Basel. It will showcase over 250 galleries from 31 countries in the Miami Beach Convention Center. The pristine Art show will begin on November 30th and end on December 4, 2016. Not only is Art Basel Week filled with galleries and culture but the event is loaded with after parties. Located at some of Miami’s hottest nightclubs, on the roster, we have Richie Hawtin, Solomun, and DirtyBird BBQ, Tale of Us, and Matoma will be performing during Art Basel Week.

Starting on November 30th, there are two epic events happening. Resident Advisor just recently announced their first ever Art Basel at Magic City Warehouse. They will be joined by some of the planet’s greatest record selectors for a uniquely intimate session to dance the night away. As well as, this ELLUM AUDIO showcase featuring label founder and artist, Maceo Plex, plus the groove master, Rebolledo, and the Miami debut of Convention live at TRADE. On Thursday, December 1st, hosted by Link Miami Rebels - Richie Hawtin will perform at TRADE, the unique sound that he has created and fostered throughout time has paved the way for electronic musicians around the world. The intimacy of Trade will give him the opportunity to continue exploring the possibilities of what is to come next. Day 3 - Friday, December 2nd, Secret Garden and 1NE Entertainment are proud to present the North American outside festival debut of Dubfire:live HYBRID, supporting acts will be Art Department. As well as, the Diynamic label anniversary party with Solomun, Adriatique, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Stimming, Karmon, and Magdalena.

On Day 4 of Art Basel is a doozy! On Saturday, December 3rd there will be five different events happening all at the same time, so choose wisely. Starting off is the world’s famous party, Dirtybird BBQ, produced by Dirtybird and MeanRed, will be held at Smashed Canvas along with a lineup that is lit. Claude VonStroke, J.Phlip, Kill Frenzy, Christian Martin, Walker & Royce, with special guest Justin Martin! Electric Beach will be returning to Miami, FL. Earlier this year, Miami saw the day party touchdown during Miami Music Week for the Chicken & Beer party which made the brand team-up with Feel Up Records of Major Lazer's Jillionaire and included talent Grandtheft, Craze, Ape Drums, TWRK, and more. For their return, Electric Beach will be taking over South Beach's Clevelander Hotel with headliner Matoma and also feature live art by world-renowned artist King Saladeen. The 21+ event will be free with RSVP. The Corona Electric Beach series has established itself as a leader in the dance music space, taking place in cities that include New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago, and in 2016 it expanded its activation to Denver, Atlanta, and Dallas.

Connecting world-renowned DJs with their fans, Corona’s Electric beach has hosted the likes of Matoma, A-TRAK, Party Favor, Giraffage, Illenium, Paper Diamond, Bob Moses, SNBRN, Chromeo, Jillionaire of Major Lazer, Grandtheft, Thomas Jack, Bixel Boys, Ape Drums, Craze, Astronomar, and so much more. The daytime premier event, All Day I Dream, will rejoice as it makes its anticipation return to the sunshine shores for its own creative vision to Art Basel week. Lee Burridge will be joined by friends from his label, each weaving an integral part of the eight-hour spellbinding mix of music at a secret island locale. A new project from underground icons The Electric Pickle, which compliments All Day I Dream’s visual story by offering an idyllic setting for beautiful souls to smile all day until the sun dissolves into night. At night, the innovative event from Tale Of Us - Afterlife will make its way to cultivate thinking club concept with a debut US show. At but not least, the closing party will be held at TRADE nightclub. Hosted by Link Miami Rebels and their signature edition of When Pigs Fly with Green Velvet. It's very overwhelming but the decision is yours.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
