Parks And Rec Characters We All Identify With

If you're familiar with the show "Parks and Recreation," you'll know that the characters are some of the funniest yet oddly relatable characters that have ever existed across all of television. Okay, maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but my point holds. Chances are, you relate to one or more of the characters, starting with:

Chris Traeger

Yeah, the only thing I'm sure of is that I have no idea what my future holds. Let's just hope the money I'm forking out on my degree is worth it.

As long as I don't take time to stop and think, I can avoid having an existential crisis.

Typically, the nights that I actually have time to sleep are the nights that sleep just won't come. Did I finish all my homework? Have I replied to all my emails?

April Ludgate

As April depicts here, it is so much easier not to do things than to do them. Who wouldn't you like to spend the day in bed, not being haunted by your responsibilities?

Sometimes it's just so draining to deal with other people.

How do you even adult? More importantly, why would you want to? Everything is so stressful.

Ann Perkins

Sometimes speaking English that makes sense to another human being is just beyond our capabilities. I mean, I know what I'm trying to say.

I hate everything about it -- sweating, cramps, shin splints, increased breathing, the self-consciousness that comes with jogging by another person -- no, thank you.

Um, this is me every time someone says "no offense." You wouldn't be saying "no offense" if you really thought what you were saying wasn't offensive; at least own up to the rudeness of your rude comment.

Andy Dwyer

Little known fact: when I was a kid, I used to eat butter pats by themselves, like candy. Disgusting; but butter does make pretty much everything taste better.

It is a universally acknowledged truth that none of us actually have any idea of what we are doing. We all just fake it till we make it. That is how you become a "successful adult."

We all encounter social situations where it seems like we know next to nothing compared to the other people there. Again, I recommend faking it til you make it.

Donna Meagle

Some people genuinely enjoy being single or, not being in committed relationships. Where all my single ladies at?

We all get those moments when we have to remind someone to stay in their lane. Sometimes, being direct is the best way to shut it down.

That moment when you were right, but you said you wouldn't say "I told you so."

Ron Swanson

Because BACON.

We've all got our own problems to deal with before considering everyone else's problems.

This. It's better to do two things well than do two dozen things poorly.

Tom Haverford

I have no problem admitting that I know pretty much nothing about sports. At all.

Sometimes I close Instagram and then, without thinking, immediately open it back up again, without even realizing what I'm doing. It's kind of a problem.

As a broke college student who has next to no money, whenever I do have cash it is a wonderful feeling that borders on euphoria.

Jerry Gergich

Comic Sans was the font of my childhood and has been transformed by pop culture (rightly so) into a font that people only use when they're being ironic. Rest in peace, Comic Sans. You had a good run.

It's true. I actually asked for socks last Christmas. This is what it's really like to be an adult, I guess.

You wouldn't think this would be that relatable, but it somehow is. I'll leave it at that.

Ben Wyatt

We all have days where we are human disasters. My motivational quote last week was genuinely, "Remember, you're not a garbage can't, you're a garbage can." Yeah.

Sometimes you just have to make a face at someone's back to get it out of your system.

Sometimes I can't even believe that someone could be so wrong.

Leslie Knope

I've often heard about the importance of self-motivating, and self-inspiring doesn't seem that far off.

I mean, right??

It's good to remember your worth in relation to other people. I try to make an effort to be mindful of that in my daily life (without crossing the gap to narcissism).

If you haven't watched "Parks and Recreation" yet, you need to. It's on Netflix, so add it to your binge-watch list. It's well worth your time.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

1. People assume you are mad all of the time.

2. Ten out of ten times you will give off an intimidating impression to others.

3. People do not acknowledge your feelings because you "do not have any."

4. Constantly being exhausted from trying to smile and not look like a witch.

5. And on the rare occasion your facial expressions show how happy you are, your friends think you are going crazy.

6. Each of your friends has said "I thought you were so mean when I first met you" at some point.

7. Then they follow that by saying "you are just hard to read."

8. So naturally if people do not know you they just assume you are a snob.

9. And when you are actually mad, your facial expressions are horrifying.

10. In the end you always look like you are judging people, when in reality people are ALWAYS judging you.
