Imagine you are in a place where sights, smells, and taste come together to make you feel as though you are in another world; this is The Paris Market. I calmly walk past the small wooden dining tables with two woven chairs at each end leading up to the entrance. Baby blue columns lead me to the door, that intrigue me by their unique color that pops out from all other buildings. The calming color painted outside entices me to walk inside to a boutique that makes me feel as if I were in Pairs. This certain place is filled with wonderful items, aromas, and essences coming from all around to make me feel as if I have stepped into a room where everything is calm and folksy.

As I grab hold of the cold steel handle of the big and heavy wooden double doors, I swing them wide open to walk into The Paris Market. Once I step inside, I feel a gust of cold air conditioning that brings me to a chill. The walls are made of a dark rustic looking wood with matching tables and cabinets all around. In front of me there is a round wooden table that holds a bundle of vintage jewelry. The visual display of the jewelry genuinely shows how beautiful the pieces are, especially when placed in glass vases next to seashells and a grey concrete bust. Then, to my right I see a wall with shelves holding glass bowls. The bowls are filled with the most vibrantly colored, individually wrapped candies that make my mouth water. Inside my mind, I think to myself about how I know I can never make a mistake by taking a browse through the store.

While casually walking around the store, I can hear the hear whispers of conversations from the employees and customers. The whispers are drowned out by the music playing throughout the whole store. It seems to be a French Jazz genre of music that goes perfectly with this type of atmosphere. The sensational sounds make me have a feeling as though I am actually shopping for antiques in a little boutique in Paris, France. From a distance, I am able to hear customers ordering their coffee and sweets from the cafe. I listen as the coffee is being poured out of the pot into cups for the customers waiting in line.

Strolling over to the cafe, I see the steam rising from mugs full of hot coffee. Considering how much I love coffee, I order myself a sixteen-ounce cup of cold brew lavender iced coffee. During my wait for the coffee, I admire the glass case full of pastries. On shelves, there are rows of macarons in all flavors and colors, sitting there calling my name. These treats are one of the best French desserts that I have tasted in my life. Above the macarons are cookies and brownies. Their aroma fills the air and causes my stomach to grumble, showing its desire to chow down on those decadent sweets. Minutes after I dream about eating dessert, my name is called by the barista who is holding out my iced coffee for me to grab. I take hold of a cold plastic cup that has dripping sweat on the outside due to the ice inside. My first sip of the cold drink tastes like bold, strong coffee with a mix of sweet and subtle lavender as it makes its way down my throat, cooling my body.

I walk over to the little seating area next to the cafe to unwind while I indulge in the coffee. I sit down into the most comfortable, cushioned love seat that is set up right next to a round marble table. After becoming comfortable, I start to notice all of the possessions around me. Directly to my left, there is a fake white goat in a glass container. My first opinion about it was how random it was, but after being around the store and closely taking in the scenery, I realize how much it actually fits into the interior design. The accessories in The Paris Market are so unique and create a sense of coziness. Relaxation comes over me while I sip on my coffee and take deep breaths, taking in the scent of all the open candles, mixed together dressing the air.

The Paris Market makes me feel as if I am in a comfortable home environment. I feel safe, calm, and focused when I am here. Around me it seems as though people are obtaining that same aura, creating a sense of assuagement throughout the space. I admire this area that consists of a vintage wooden structure that is filled with all my favorite items to make it an irresistible boutique to not go into.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
