Parents' Weekend Is The Best Weekend

College makes you appreciate your parents.

Parents' Weekend Is The Best Weekend

As a sophomore in college, you're used to your independence being responsible for yourself. However, there comes a time in early October when you find yourself missing your parents just a little bit. Especially if you're like me and go to school 770 miles from home, parents' weekend can be something you look forward to. As much as you may miss your parents, they for sure miss you more and will love spending quality time spoiling you for the next 48 hours.

Here's why Parents' Weekend is the best:

1. You get to see the people that created you

After a month away from your parents, it is safe to say you have some catching up to do. It is much needed time to tell your parents about your favorite classes, latest projects, and fun things you've done while at school.

2. You get to take them to your favorite spots & show them around your city

That cool museum or hip taco restaurant that you love are places that your parents probably will too! So get in that rental car and take them!

3. They restock your fridge

The last thing a parent wants to see is an empty mini fridge, so they will for sure take you to your nearest grocery store to stock up on snacks.

4. They take you and your friends out to eat

This is a real perk of having your parents come for the weekend-They want to meet your friends and feed you so they're all about killing both birds with one stone. This means good food with all of your favorite people.

5. They hug you and take funny photos of you and help you destress after a week of exams

As much of an adult as you may seem, you'll always need your mom and dad.

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
