If you scroll through your cable or satellite channel listing any time after 6:00 at night, you would probably notice that there are a plethora of programs dedicated to paranormal investigations. As such, it stands to reason that investigating the things that go bump in the night may be something that occurs worldwide. Ironically enough, there is a story floating around about a ghost hunter in India whose own death is reportedly mysterious and maybe even paranormal.

Gaurav Tiwari was India’s most renowned paranormal investigator having attempted to make contact with the supernatural in over 6,000 locations. Tiwari was the CEO and founder of the Indian Paranormal Society and could be seen on 6 different television stations in India where he promoted Paranormal Research. On July 7, 2016, Guarav Tiwari was found dead in his bathroom with a mysterious thin black line across his neck. The cause of death has been ruled to be asphyxia and it has been reported that there was nothing to suggest any foul play.

His family said they heard a loud noise from the bathroom around 11:00 am local time. They broke through the locked bathroom door and found Tiwari lying on the floor. The 32 year-old was rushed to the hospital but medical personnel were unable to resuscitate him. Having no known health issues, the next step was to consider whether or not Tiwari’s mysterious death could have been the result of suicide.

The initial reports showed that Tiwari had no financial or any other concerning issues that stood out as something that may drive a man to kill himself. He was recently married and his paranormal work was believed to put pressure on a new marriage. Most paranormal research is conducted after dark which meant that there were nights that kept Tiwari out until the early morning hours. The couple supposedly had a fight at 1:30 in the morning on the day of his death. He was investigating a house that is believed to be haunted in Dehli’s Janakpuri and his late arrival at the couple’s home triggered the argument.

However, he appeared to be back to normal on the day of his death. It was even mentioned that Tiwari was checking his email just a few moments before he died. The initial search of the home conducted by police in India did not reveal anything substantial and they are awaiting the results of a full autopsy.

Despite Guarav’s success and popularity, his family did not have the same beliefs when it came to matters of the paranormal. Additionally, he was alone in the bathroom when he died but his family maintains that he was too strong to commit suicide and state that he had no reason to kill himself. His father reported that his son had said he felt like “a negative force was pulling him towards it.” He had also told his wife about it months ago, saying “he was trying to control it but seemed unable to do so.”

Most recently, the death of Guarav Tiwiri is being investigated from the angle of a homicide as police interviewed his father and his wife for over 8 hours and were not satisfied with their detailing of the sequence of events leading up to his death. If his wife and his family were not disapproving of his ghost-hunting, homicide is certainly a possibility. There are also rumors that he had been in communication with a female from the paranormal community and his wife was unhappy about that. Still, he was not rumored to have been having any type of affair and killing someone over their chosen line of work seems like an odd motive for a family to take.

This is definitely an interesting case to say the least. There doesn’t seem to be enough information to support a homicide, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of information to support the idea of a suicide either. Anyone who is not open to the idea of paranormal entities among us will have to make a determination between one or the other. Those of us that do believe in the supernatural will have a vast array of other theories to explore. Tiwari visited over 6,000 places that were said to be haunted. If haunted houses and ghosts really do exist, there is nothing to suggest they are trapped in a certain location. Just because he leaves a haunted location, doesn’t mean he left everything that may be supernatural behind.
