This delicious war has been going on for far too long and I am here to settle it once and for all. Which is better, waffles or pancakes?
Round 1: Time to make
Both pancakes and waffles take relatively the same amount of time to make, but my fellow couch potatoes and sloths can most definitely tell the difference. Preparing the batter is the same for both delectable dishes. The time difference is in the actual cooking. Waffles take the lead her by only having to be put into the waffle maker and just checking occasionally to make sure we didn't leave it in too long. Pancakes, on the other hand, have to be flipped and if you happen to flip too early, good luck with all that gooey nonsense flung all around you
Winner: Waffles
Round 2: Portions and Health
With breakfast being the most important meal of the day, some tend to get a little crazy about their health like how many calories it is and "that better only be a 4-inch pancake". Waffles do have a set size in the waffle maker, but can be put into only a 1/4, 1/2, or the whole size of the skillet. Pancakes take the fight to the waffles with the ability to be made into any size to fit any portion as one sees fit. TIEBREAKER! Calorie count is the tie breaker here. Normal waffles are about an average of 85 calories per ounce and pancakes take the lead at the last minute with only 64 calories per ounce.
Winner: Pancakes
Final Round: Unique Abilities
Waffles: They are equipped with topping traps. These blessed grooves in the waffle keep the syrup and other delectable toppings on top of the waffle and not spilling into any of the other breakfast additions on your plate. Waffles also come in the very popular Eggo variety which increases the ease of making. Pop it into the toaster or microwave and eat in a minute or less. Waffles have also started a beautiful relationship with chicken that everyone has come to love.
Pancakes: Known as flapjacks to many. Equipped with stacking capabilities. Nothing is more glorious than seeing a huge stack of pancakes on your plate being sacrificed to your belly for nourishment. If you can flip a pancake in a skillet with one hand you gain serious street cred and all the ladies/men will love you (for different reasons, of course). Pancakes are very accessible. They can be made in any regular skillet whereas waffles have to be made in a waffle maker.
This has been a great fight on both sides, but only one can be victorious! The winner is...
