10 Reasons Pancakes Will Always Be The Superior Breakfast Food, Especially Over Waffles

Who knew that essentially the same batter could cause such a divide between pancake and waffle enthusiasts. This age-old feud has broken up too many friendships to not be solved. So I am here today on this sacred national pancake day to settle it. If you love waffles, I am sorry and hope to change your mind, and if you are already a pancake lover - just nod along with me. Here are 10 ways pancakes are UNQUESTIONABLY better than waffles.

1. Pancakes are stackable.

Who in their right mind would rather have one boring waffle over multiple pancakes? At least it is socially acceptable to eat a stack of pancakes, and you never walk away hungry.

2. Pancakes are addable.

Okay, now I'm just making up words. Unlike that boring waffle, you have so many different flavors to choose from when it comes to pancakes: cinnamon roll pancakes, banana nut pancakes, trailblazer pancakes, strawberry short stack, and the list goes on...

3. Waffles have more - FAT.

Since the batter is essentially the same, the only difference between pancakes and waffles when it comes to health is that waffles have more FAT. Yes, that's right waffles only win in one category, and that is containing more butter or oil than pancakes. Congrats waffle-lovers, that's a BIG win!

4. Pancakes are unique.

Growing up, one of my favorite memories was pancake Saturdays. There are so many ways to have fun and be creative with pancakes outside of flavor with regard to shapes, size, and colors. Now, I want to challenge you to try constructing Mickey Mouse's ears with a square waffle!

5. Pancakes can be buttered.

Do you really need to spend five minutes buttering your waffle when instead you can butter your stack of pancakes in just five seconds?

6. Pancakes are more than breakfast food.

You may only cling to waffles because they are good with chicken. But have you ever tried a pancake burger? Yeah, waffles aren't so special after all.

7. Pancakes are easy.

You can make pancakes yourself with little hassle, because they don't require a special iron, unlike complicated waffles. And even if you do own a waffle maker, it's not so easy to clean.

8. Pancakes can be made in bulk.

You can make multiple pancakes at one time; this is another reason why pancakes are all around better that their cousin waffles.

9. Your favorite celebrity probably likes pancakes better as well.

Last year for this sacred day, People released an article that included 10 celebrity pancake recipes. So, this #NationalPancakeDay, celebrate like a star because your favorite celebrity probably likes pancakes better too, and they may even have sung a song about banana pancakes, too!

10. Waffle House doesn't serve pancakes, but IHOP serves waffles...

In previous years this has been used as an argument against pancakes, but I think that Waffle House is too scared to serve the superior breakfast food because they know more people will choose it. Whereas, IHOP is secure in their love for pancakes and isn't afraid to add a little variety here and there!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that.
