After 11 years of not being allowed to step into a Chili’s, Pam Beesley-Halpert made the first move to mend a broken relationship. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, watch “The Office” Season 2 Episode 1.
Once you’ve seen the episode and know what I’m talking about, Pam used the ever important Dundie Awards, hosted by none other than Dunder Mifflin’s boss Michael Scott, to test her alcoholic tolerance. She claimed to have felt God in Chili’s with her that night while celebrating her award for whitest sneakers and was ultimately banned by management on her way out the door.
Flash forward eleven years, the joke lives on. Jenna Fischer, the oh-so-talented actress that played everyone’s favorite receptionist, tweeted a picture of her in front of a Chili’s restaurant, with the caption “Should I try to go in?”.
The comedian's tweet received over 100,000 retweets, nearly 400,000 likes and thousands of responses from fans of the beloved NBC comedy. One notable response was from none other than fast-food chain Chili’s, who tweeted back an almost better response.
After several responses from The Office’s cast members, including Michael Scott himself (Steve Carrell) and Jenna’s TV-husband John Krasinski, Chili’s ultimately uplifted the eleven-year ban over Beesly-Halpert/Fischer.
All is right in the world. Well, all would be right if this prompted a much needed Office reunion, but we'll get there someday.
