It’s summertime, which means that for all of us pale-skinned people, sunburn season has only just begun. Now, I’ll admit, I could have it a lot worse when it comes to the color of my skin (which is a very light ivory color), but that doesn’t mean I don’t suffer any less than others with skin as light as or lighter than mine. Being pale is a #struggle, and if you need to be reminded of why it is such a hassle, here are 16 problems you’ll only face if you’re pale AF:
1. You burn SUPER easily.
But, hey, at least you got some color, right?
2. And you can’t tan no matter how hard you try.
Tanning booths even leave you looking burnt.
3. You get excited at the slightest bit of color on your skin.
“Look, guys! I’m an entire eighth of a shade lighter!”
4. Your friends are constantly using your skin tone as a color comparison.
Please keep reminding me of how much darker you are than me, I must have gone blind.
5. You’ve heard “Wow, you’re so white!” more times than you can count.
Ha ha… haven’t heard that one before.
6. SPF 70+ is your BFF.
Go big or go home, right?
7. And the sun is your enemy.
Sigh...
7. You have a stash of Aloe Vera from all of the times you nearly burned to death.
It’s saved your skin on one too many occasions.
8. You bruise more than anyone else you know.
...and you can feel it forming in a matter of seconds.
9. You can’t wear certain colors because it makes you look paler.
Yellow automatically makes you look washed out.
10. You’re always on the hunt for the lightest shade of foundation you can find.
Is there a shade lighter than porcelain?
11. You’re used to looking like Casper the Ghost in photos.
The flash is not your friend.
12. Your “tan” is a normal human skin tone.
Finally, you blend in.
13. You turn bright red after EVERY workout.
14. Everyone always asks if you dyed your hair a darker shade.
Nope, I probably just got paler. But, hey, what else is new?
15. “Nude” colored clothing and accessories are darker than you.
“Is it possible that this item comes in ‘sickly white’?”
16. No matter how much you may despise your skin color, you wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Okay...maybe like ONE shade, but still.
