In J. Cole's latest album release KOD the intro song on the album states:
"A newborn baby has two primary modes of communication
Laughter, which says 'I love this'
or crying, which says 'This frightens me, i'm in pain'
Life can bring much pain.
There are many ways to deal with this pain.
Choose wisely"
Pain and Pleasure govern us in all that we do - Jeremy Benthm
Depression is a state of mind that leaves people feeling sad, demotivated, and essentially lifeless. The above comes from the National Institute of Mental Health from their website discussing the basics of what the disorder actually is. Many people can have a feeling of sadness however it is not considered “serious” until it has lasted longer than two weeks.
350,000,000 million people clinically diagnosed with depression globally
In a world that prides itself on maintaining the best human life possible, it's interesting how much we allow to happen within our society and our communities. We have lost control of where we want to go and who we want to be when we stare in the mirror in the morning or right before bed. Our sense of self is diminishing due to our fear of being politically correct and never having an opinion that might potentially hurt someone’s feelings
80,000,000,000 billion dollars spent combating the effects and causes of depression
The cause is unknown to the science world and daily they come out with new ways in which to alleviate the stress of daily life or how to maximize your hours in the day in order to accomplish all the ridiculous and unnecessary responsibilities we all have been bombarded with throughout our lives. Is money the solution or the problem in terms of ending sadness and promoting happiness for our global society?
432,000,000,000 billion dollars owned by 8 white men
While this is more money than the exactly half the human population combined it's hard to point the finger at anyone who is making 2.50 a day. Is this fair to have this much money?
30,000 children die every day out of poverty
Why are we allowing our children throughout our fellow nations to starve and suffer through their pain when there is more than enough people whipping down the street in their luxury cars or being chaffered at the tap of a button.
We care more about gun violence in America and eliminating the pay gap between genders to realize that at the base of our problems its the mental health disparities and conclusions that lead us to all of these social and political issues.
My questions include: Why are we so sad as a civilization? What is the cause of our sadness? How can we be happy? Can every single living thing on this planet be happy?
