Pain, we have all felt it and are all familiar with it. Whether it was physical, emotional, or mental pain, we have all experienced pain many times throughout our lives. It sucks to face a painful situation and it can truly break you, but you do get through it. The pain is only temporary; I am not saying it goes away, but it will not always be as painful as it is in the moment. One day the tears will be less, the heartache will not hurt as much, and it will be a little bit easier to get out of bed and face the day. Whether it is a break-up, the death of a loved one, the mean comment continuously said to you, or a job lost, it will get better. I am not saying it will ever stop hurting, but I am saying that one day it will not feel like your heart is going to explode out of your chest. One day you will be able to find a better significant other for you, reminisce on the great memories that you made with the loved one who passed away, realize the strength you gained from all of the mean comments, and find a job that is much better than the last one.

Pain is a hard thing to shake, but you can and will get through it. It takes time and does not happen overnight, but you will one day notice the difference in the you now and the you 6 months ago. You are so much stronger than the pain that is trying to hold you captive. You will get through this pain and past this pain. The beautiful part of the pain is when you get through it and you get to help someone else dealing with what you were dealing with. The pain is difficult and seems everlasting, but it is just a bump in the road.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
