Believe it or not, whitewater rafting is one of my favorite summer activities. Even though I wouldn't consider myself athletic or too outdoorsy, I am always ready to shred some current. Rafting not only gives you that feeling of an adrenaline rush, but it also connects you with your family, friends, and even acquaintances who are going through the same exciting experience right by your side.
Don't expect to not get wet - it always happens to me in the first two minutes anyways. Don't expect to not have fun — because there's plenty of laughs and positive vibes during the ride. Lastly, don't tell yourself you can't — if you set your mind to overcoming whatever is holding you back, you will succeed.
Hopefully for you, the water isn't too cold and you're able to get soaked comfortably, but even if it's not, paddle with a smile on your face because these opportunities aren't always available! Humans thrive off of building relationships through exploration and it's important to take advantage of any time that you might get to do that!
Live in the moment! Feel the rush as the wave hits your skin like a freight train. The energy the raft carries with all of your buddies is insane! It's not supposed to be a comfortable little stroll down the river. This activity is a stress-relieving, exhilarating connection with nature. Whitewater rafting, no matter the class intensity or location, is always an incredible way to experience the outdoors because it shows you a perspective others can't always encounter. What better way to jump right out of your comfort zone and have a lot of fun!
Rafting, kayaking, skiing, boarding, skydiving, rollerskating, you name it! Try them all and see what you like, you might even be lucky enough to have some bruises as souvenirs! Whitewater rafting was the golden ticket to expand my horizons and let loose, however, everyone is different! We're all unique in our own ways, therefore, be yourself and discover another interest you never thought you would enjoy!
The first time I did this activity I was immediately cautious and as I paddled a few strokes in the current, I felt alive and something in me switched. I had let go of my fears and listened to what my gut instinct told me to do -- stop thinking and start living. No matter how many rafts I step into, I will always feel the thrill. The activities we complete are all reminders of what we showed ourselves we could accomplish. Remember to do something to challenge yourself. It's worth it.
