Summer break is officially upon us, bringing vacation season as well. No matter if I’m traveling for two days or two weeks, I’ve always managed to fit all my belongings into one carry on bag. Here are some tips I’ve gathered so you can travel light your next vacation.

1. Bring tops and bottoms that you can mix and match

You don’t need a different outfit everyday! Bring a couple of basics — neutral shirts and bottoms — that can create multiple outfits throughout your tip. When I travel, I tend to re-wear certain items. Bring garments that you know you will wear more than once.

2. Roll, don’t fold!

I’m not exactly sure if this is scientifically proven, but I like to roll my clothes instead of folding them. For me, this saves space and prevents clothes from wrinkling. In addition, it can also keep your suitcase organized for your travels.

3. Use your samples

Somehow, I manage to accumulate tons of cosmetic samples over the year which are perfect to use when traveling. Bypass potential problems with airport security by using the small bottles (and also, get rid of the junk in your house).

4. Use separate containers and bags

The best way to keep your bag organized and to keep all your things in the right place to use separate bags for each category. For example, I have a bag specifically for shoes, hygiene things, and clothes.

5. Plan ahead, and pack only the essentials

Go through your daily routine and pack only what you absolutely must have. This will also help you not forget anything important. Only pack what you know you will use.

6. Take the destination into account

This applies to clothes especially. If you are going to a cooler destination, for example, it might not be necessary to pack six pairs of shorts. If it’s going to be rainy where you’re going, make sure you pack a rain jacket.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

Bucket List To Live In The Now

Find excitement in your life and start exploring wherever you are right here, right now.

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
