Oxygen Not Included Gaming

From the creators of Don't Starve, Klei Entertainment hits the Steam shelves with a brand new survival-esque game Oxygen Not Included. This space colony survival-thon game takes the management style game and kicks it up a notch with stressful situation upon stressful situation. Between the members of your colony getting sick, destroying things, food shortages, flooding, creatures attacking, and of course there not being enough oxygen. It is your duty to survive as long as you can and colonize the lonely asteroid that you've placed on.

When I first heard about this game it was through popular Youtuber Markiplier. His initial game play was filled with funny quirky moments from his commentary but I truly craved more. I wanted to play this game, as the management style games were something I thought were always a fun concept. The little story included with game was enough to feel like you are embarking on the next big adventure, which was a big deal to my inner 7 year old me who wanted nothing more than to be an astronaut.

Like I previously mentioned this game throws A LOT of curve balls at you, but more on that later. When you first start off you are given the choice of picking three different 'duplicates' to begin your colony with. The three I initially started out with were named Mozzarella, Ellie, and Stinky. My space children were then teleported to deep within the asteroid. Your first task is to begin making your base, digging yourself a space to build your power supplies, food supplies, oxygen supplies, and so much more. At first I didn't think it was going to be as hard as it was, as I really wanted to explore beyond what was already shown to me. I created a HUGE space for my tiny space children to go about their lives with... until they started running out of clean oxygen and the space filled up with carbon dioxide and contaminated oxygen. The stress of my duplicates began to spiral out of control as my food supply began to diminish, my machines were over heating, plants weren't growing, pipes were breaking, oxygen was basically not existent, and my colony was either throwing up the entirety of their body mass or lashing out and breaking my algae deoxidizers.

Okay well attempt one failed, and just like in Markiplier's play through I had gotten attached to my colony members and was very upset when they... died.

However I decided to start anew and try again.... and again.. and again.

Seriously this game is addicting beyond belief. I just want to see my tiny space children be happy.

The most amazing part is that this game is still in ALPHA! It already has SO much to offer and so much to do and interact with. As well as Klei Entertainment has been updating the game fairly regularly to be in tip top shape for its release this upcoming May. The dialogue, interactions, new adventures, and new failures will keep you on your toes as you do your best to manage your colony and survive as long as you can. I highly recommend this game to anyone, from those who play video games all day every day to brand new and young gamers.

Oxygen Not Included is $19.99 on Steam right now, so grab your space guns and oxygen tanks and get ready to explore the latest game from Klei Entertainment.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
