Before owning a dog, I was never really a dog person. Don’t get me wrong, I loved dogs but there is a distinct difference between just loving dogs and being obsessed with them. Once you own a dog, you understand this weird change that sort of overtakes you without you even noticing. You fall in love with your pet throughout the good and the bad. From taking millions of puppy photos and watching them grow up while getting frustrated the first time they pee on your carpet or when they ruin your fav shoes. They’re always there, through thick and thin. But really, having a dog changes everything. And I mean everything.
First big change that happens is you lose a bit of your social life because you’d rather stay at home with your pup than go out and mingle. Honestly though, who would rather carry a conversation with people than hang out with their dog? Literally no one. Getting a dog will make you realize that people are overrated and dogs are superior to all.
The second big transition of your life will be you having to deal with those who aren’t dog people. I know what you’re thinking… it is in fact shocking that there are those who don’t enjoy love, affection and constant happiness, but us dog lovers can get through this if we all stick together. When people insult your dog, know that deep down they are truly insecure with themselves and do not mean to insult your amazing, beautiful, perfect companion, so you or your dog should not take it personally. And with these preposterous none dog lovers comes the rude remarks and the constant dirty looks when your dog “accidentally” leaves a surprise on their front lawns. Look it’s the circle of life, Karen, so get the heck over it and get a grip. Dogs are awesome.
So, we get the point, owning a dog changes you entirely and makes your heart grow four hundred sizes, BUT the secret to this all and the reason we love dogs so much is because they love us. Literally, all dogs do is love us. We are all they think about, all day. We’re they’re entire lives. So next time someone pokes fun at you for making your background a photo of your dog licking peanut butter off their nose, just know that it's pure jealousy. There is literally nothing in this world that is better than owning a dog and the companionship you build. If you disagree, then either your dog is a cat or you don’t own one. Either way, your life is probably sad so you should definitely buy a dog. Seriously, you won’t regret it.
