Ease your mind, don't become your own worst enemy

~Don't be a victim of your own mind~

Just drop it sometimes.

From the time we are born to the time we die, our brains take what we experience and create a map of cause and effect. Our brains use that information to decide how to feel and how the environment reacts around us. If you go on and on about something, talk to countless people about it or think about it all day, you are collecting more information than necessary on whatever it is you're worrying about and confusing your mind! Ease your mind. Worry about it when it matters. Live more in the moment.

There are things you can't change, so accept that.

Some things are out of your realm of control. You have to convince yourself not to let these things affect you. You are not at fault for things that are no longer your problem. The Law of Attraction states what happens in our minds becomes a reality around us. If you keep running scenarios in your head, things around you are going to change because your mind is beginning to will it. Virtually, the reality you create in your head is more likely to happen.

There are things you can change, so you should worry about that.

You have things in your control. Worry about these. This is what will empower you. Go through your day and pay more attention to the things you take care of. You can do these things to the best of your ability. This will affect how the things you cannot control play out. Better mindset, better results.

Redirect your worry.

Take that energy and attention and pour it into something you can control. Clean. Take a walk. Go for a run, like you've been telling yourself you want to do. Organize your room. You have to flip your mind and start working these things you have in your control. This sets you up to feel better, and you are being productive.

Don't compare yourself to others.

Working on yourself doesn't require any checkpoints of anyone else's milestones. Your chapter 5 is happening during their chapter 12, so do not compare them! Happiness is found in getting there, the journey. Center yourself by making you the center of what you do. You aren't in a competition, you are in this crazy thing called life.

Do not blame yourself for everything.

No one is perfect. Even so, not everything is your fault. Some things just happen. When you've done your best, that is what matters. Appreciate yourself for trying.

Breathe, life goes on.

You aren't promised tomorrow.

Life isn't smooth sailing. No great sailor becomes great without rough waters.

Tomorrow is a gift from God that not everyone receives. Let yourself live. Be you in the moment, and use these tips to feel better about everyday stresses. Ease your mind and feel better from now on!

We aren't in control.

Above all, just trust in God's plan.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
