Overcoming Aderall

Is ADHD really worth it?

Overcoming Aderall

We live in a world thats becoming more dependent on pills. We rely on them for sleeping, studying, and staying awake. It has become increasingly popular among high school, and especially college students. While it is safe to take these pills in moderation, the young population does nothing but the opposite, and we seemingly have no idea that the western medicine that claims to "help us" so much, is actually doing nothing but harm to our bodies and minds.

To put it straightforward, college students love aderall, and especially that school is now back in session, the underground market of aderall selling and consumption begins. Aderall is handed out and sold on college campuses on a daily basis to help students cram in their next project, homework, and exams. It's basically known as the study drug, or the drug that gives you straight A's. Coming from someone who was prescribed aderall for ADHD for a total of 6 years, I understand the hype. Thanks to aderall, I was able to cram in those papers and exams. Using aderall me feel good and motivated to get things done, and I felt that it was all worth it at the time.

Overtime, aderall started making me happy, eventually developing into a habit that was the only thing that made me happy. I slowly but surely start to rely on it on a daily basis. I eventually started to become dependent on the drug and my prescription medication started to become an addictive narcotic that lured me into unhealthy habbits. On days that I felt bloated, id take an aderall to ensure that my body wouldn't want to consume any food for the next 6-8 hours. Aderall once caused me to loose 10 pounds, making me look like a skeleton. I remember my parents once having to nearly take me to the hospital over aderall withdrawals, as the addiction and hype over the drug isn't bad enough, the withdrawals take it to a whole new level. After taking it for 6 years, it didn't know what it was like to feel normal, because aderall was the only thing that made me feel normal.

Aderall is very similar to Methamphetamine. Chemically they are very closely related. Adderall contains dextroamphetamine salts, the psychoactive chemical is Amphetamine. The difference between these two molecules is one methyl group. With that being said, not only does taking aderall make you feel like a crack head, it makes your body shake, it introduces insomnia, it makes your heart pound rapidly, and it also makes you sweat. The side effects of aderall and meth are very similar.

Our doctors instruct us to take aderall maybe once or twice a day, however, maybe we should step back and realize that following those instructions would lead to dependence, which leads straight to addiction. It turns you into a complete robot, and is a dangerous mind altering substance. To the millions of individuals taking aderall, be careful, have and open mind, and don't fall into the dark hole of addiction.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
