After the Democratic debate, many commentators praised Hillary Clinton for her performance. If you consider the policy examples and plans brought to the table by Bernie Sanders and Matthew O'Malley, it is clear the Clinton did not come in first, and only named dropped and played the female card. These are the top three reasons why I am over The Hill, and why you should be, too.
1. We all know you may be the first woman President -- what else do you offer.
Yes, I am as ready as any female to see a woman in the Oval Office, but Hillary is not who that person should be. If the main point the audience takes away from the first debate of your political party is that you would be the first woman President and nothing about what and how you want to utilize the position, you have a problem.
2. Do not say the opposite party is the enemy you are most proud of.
Other candidates said global warming, their war scars, and other strong answers. Dear Hillary said the Republican Party. Not only did this not offer any insight into her beliefs, it gave the Republican party great ammunition for any future commercials against her, and she alienated potential voters who are independent and may side with the Republican Party on some issues.
3. Do we really need another Clinton?
The American government was not designed for the same families to run the government and have continuous success in politics because of their last name (yes, that includes you, too, Jeb Bush). Yes, I know that Hillary cannot help what her husband did, but after being in office for a long time and her husband being a president, I think it is time to retire and pass the baton to someone else.
I encourage you to look beyond the last name, the gender, and the party and find the candidate that speaks the most to you. I am over The Hil, and you should be, too.
