Out of Darkness

"The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts it's shadow, a light has shined." Matthew 4:16

When God created the Earth He placed two lights in the sky. One for the day time and one for the night time (Genesis 1:14-18).

The Bible never said He created the moon and the sun, it said He created two great lights to govern day and night. This is because we not called to live in darkness.

Life can be awful. Take a look around. Look at the news, you'll find more bad than good. These things we go through, whatever it may be, leads to depression.

Depression is something we have all experienced at one time or another. People, will sometimes call it "a dark time in their lives." Because depression is dark, because dark is hopeless. Without hope we are fearful, we are sad, we are lost.

But... even dark objects have the tendency to absorb light. Light, even if it's a little, always overcomes darkness.

And Jesus, is the light of the world. As Christians we are called to reflect that light. Just as the moon reflects the SUN. We are also called to reflect the SON.

No matter what you're going through in life, the light of God's presence will shine upon you. You no longer have to hide in darkness, just come out of hiding.

When you're lost at sea, God will be your lighthouse. He will illuminate everything.

Don't fear, just come to God, and He will be your light.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
