I know that sometimes we are so overwhelmed by what is going on around the country that we don't think about stopping to pray.
I know that sometimes we are so upset about what is happening that it is hard to lift people up in prayer.
I know that we, as a nation, are confused at the continuous violence and hate that seems to be consuming the United States of America.
I feel so much sorrow for families of citizens and law enforcement that have lost loved ones lately. I’m not writing this to be one-sided; I know all lives matter and I also know we should respect the authority the Lord has put over us.
Praying for our nation isn’t something that needs to be put on the sidelines right now. I know and trust that God is calling us to come to the front lines with prayer, rather than fear, for what is happening around our country. Sometimes we may not know where to begin with praying. We know that our country has a deep ache that is crying out for God’s mercy to reign down. We know that these horrible situations are a reflection of us calling God to come back and heal our people.
For those of you who do not think prayer is the answer, I hope that you heart is turned around to see that God is the maker and creator. He is beginning and the end. He is still the one calling all the shots, we just have to look to Him.
God knows what kind of confusion and chaos these events are causing, but He is still there.
God’s Word promised our country’s restoration long before any of this was happening. “If My people who are called by My name put away their pride and pray, and look for My face, and turn from their sinful ways, then I will hear from heaven. I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” --- 2 Chronicles 7:14
There are instances in The Bible where cities or entire nations were under attack, or destruction was coming their way, and we saw God swoop in and save the day. We have seen God rebuild nations from nothing, so why couldn’t God bring us back from a time like this?
We, as the body of Christ, have the opportunity to step up. Not with criticism, hatred, racism, or judgement, but with love and compassion that is given to us by Our Father.
God is the giver of peace, justice, and unity. Let’s pray that all of these are things that can cover the American body and that our nation gets the chance to see God heal us like never before.
Know that in the midst all of this, God is still faithful.
“For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20
If we are all gathering under His name together, we can really see a change.
