Our Time Is Now
http://sonandoenpuertorico.com/

As young adults, this time is ours. We have finally got to the point in life we've wanted throughout our childhood. We're finally legally adults (even though we often still act like kids) and this is our time. We've finally reached the time in our lives when we can do whatever we want. A time we've all wanted for so long. So much freedom (that gets some, well most of us into trouble at times). Like many things in life, the beginning of this time period is the best. Do everything and anything you want to do. This time doesn't last long, and our time is now.

Enjoy life a little more.

Appreciate the smallest things, because they're important. Watch the sun rise and set. Enjoy the presence of others, even if they're strangers. Appreciate how beautiful life truly is. Spend time with friends, capture memories. Notice others who don't have families, and appreciate yours a little more.

Do what you enjoy doing.

Don't do things because your friends want you to, or because your parents want you to, or because anyone wants you to. Do what you enjoy doing. Go to college and study a major that you love, or work in the profession you're passionate about. Figure yourself out. Don't let someone decide who you are.

This is the time of trial and error.

Growing up you make mistakes. You may end up hating the job you thought you loved or the major you're studying. That's okay. This is the perfect time to figure that out. Being let out into the world lets you discover who you are and what you want to do in life. If you don't know right off, that's okay too. You have time. You have all the time in the world. It isn't a race. You're not in competition with old high school classmates anymore, or other college students, or your parents, or your friends. It isn't a race to get a good job and have a house, family, and life. Enjoy this almost carefree time.

Enjoy your youth.

Though we're technically adults now, don't forget to enjoy the small amount of youth you have left. This time goes fast. Enjoy it. Go to parties. Spend all night at the beach with your best friends. Stay out late with friends when you have to work in the morning. Don't work your life away now. You have the rest of your life to work. Work enough to pay the bills. Live a little more, and work a little less. There is nothing you'll regret more than not being able to enjoy this time because you completely worked it away.

Be impulsive.

Do things out of impulse. Go on a random shopping spree. Buy that expensive watch, just because you want it. Take a last minute road trip to somewhere you've never been. Go sky diving. Make a bucket list and do every single thing on it, all of the crazy ideas you've ever had. Make it happen. Make memories. Do crazy things. You'll thank me one day.

Don't grow up too fast. Enjoy every last minute of these few years. Live. This is our time. Embrace it.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
