To Our Best Friend That Transferred: From Us To You

Honestly stop joking and come back already

To Our Best Friend That Transferred: From Us To You

Dearest Kelly Kraunelis,

You are my inspiration for this piece. Especially because recently it has been so hard without here at school. You would think I would've wrote this months ago thinking about getting back into the swing of things at school without you (better late than never am I right?). As personal as this story may seem, I believe anyone can relate because no matter where your best friend may be (from home or from school) long distance is never easy ever.

Getting as close as we did freshman year is truly what made me enjoy school so much. And honestly, at first I didn’t know if I could handle it when you told me you were going to leave (as dramatic as that sounds, I literally cried for days and still recovering). I was so distraught that I wasn’t going to see your face every day at school or get lunch with you after class. It was so hard thinking about my college experience without you.

I am writing this to tell you how much we love and miss you Kel. But also to thank you for everything you’ve done for me in the one year that we were together (pretty much every day).I first want to thank you for introducing me to the best people I could ever meet/ my other two BFFs; Lauren Gardner and Caroline Tanner. (and you too Annie didn't forget about you) I am incredibly blessed to have met all of these girls and to actually make another friend other than you (lol). I don't know what I would do without them and I am grateful that you brought them into my life.

All the times we're all hanging out and saying, "Kelly would love this" or our daily "To Kelly!!" snaps. We all feel the pain of missing you AND it really is genuinely hard. Honestly that is what probably made us so close. The constant, "When is Kelly coming back?" or "Where's Kelly?" You made us as close as we are right now and without you we wouldn’t have the glue.

Yes, we all FaceTime and catch up every once in a while but it isn’t the same without you and it's literally the worst thing to not see you. But I could not be happier you came to QU even though it was only a year, you changed my life and impacted me in so many ways. I can’t express enough how grateful I am for that. You continue to make us laugh even though you're in some far away state that I couldn't even point out on a map.

It was truly so hard to see you go but we couldn’t be happier for you to see how much you’re thriving. U Miami (in Ohio) is so lucky to have you and we will never forgive them for taking you from us. Thank you for being you and never change... trust me we will be coming to ruin your life at school very soon. Distance got nothing on us

Love always from your old (forever) college bffs (don't forget us)

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
