Homecoming and Tiger Tunes make this time of year so exciting for Ouachita Baptist University!
Tiger Tunes is something that almost all students on campus are involved in, and it takes weeks and weeks to perfect the show. In 2015, Tiger Tunes was live-streamed in 52 different countries and 6 continents. With a student population of only 1,500, the turnout is amazing. There are five shows throughout the week: a dress rehearsal on Wednesday, one each night on Thursday and Friday, and two Saturday night after the homecoming game.
Social clubs put on themed performances each year. This year's themes are even better than last year.
Betas: Astronauts
Campus Ministries: Stars
Chi Delta: Make It Rain
Chi Mu: Clocks
EEE: Toy Soldiers
Eta Alpha: Olympics
Kappa Chi: Express
Student Life: Super Store
Tri Chi: Tumbleweeds
OBU Band: Space
For those who aren't familiar with Tunes, the clubs make mini-musicals, basically, and awards are given out at the end of each show for Best Costumes, Best Choreography, Best Overall Entertainment, etc. Tunes is really magical, and anyone who is slightly interested should come see, or at least watch online via live stream before they judge Tunes.
Anyone who participated in Tiger Tunes should be patted on the back and given a hug - hours and hours of work were put into this show. Late night practices, battling colds and stomach bugs, and falling behind on homework are only some of the sacrifices these students made to perfect their show. This show means so much to the students, faculty and staff, community, parents, and viewers.
This year, Tiger Tunes attracted many notable alumni, such as Candace Payne (Chewbacca Mom, class of 2002 alumna) and Barrett Baber (Finalist in Season 9 of NBC's The Voice, class of 2001 alum.)
Congratulations to all the winners this year - and join Ouachita next year for, arguably, the most exciting week of the year!
