Orlando Is Magical

Magic is everywhere

Orlando Is Magical
Drew Heisey

I have been living in Orlando for the past week and I have to say that it has been filled with magic. I checked into the Disney College Program and I have to say that it has been a very busy week and there are more to come. I had a lot of time to explore a little of Orlando and some of the Walt Disney World property. I have the next five months to go exploring , so that is something I can look forward to, especially with Halloween and other major holidays that I will be in Orlando for.

My family helped me move in and get settled in my housing complex. I spent the week getting my apartment ready and getting myself ready for the week ahead when I start training on the job. I had my official first day yesterday, which was fantastic. During my first day, we went through a lot of magical things and toured the Magic Kingdom. I am very excited to be working soon. As I have said before numerous times, it has been a dream of mine to work for this magical place. The fact that I will be working for the Walt Disney World still baffles me and I can't believe that my dreams have come true. It's amazing what a little pixie dust and believing can do. You should never be afraid to pursue your fears.

To pass time during the week, I spent time with my new roommates and family. I took my sister to Universal Studios to see Diagon Alley that is part of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. My initial reaction was just like any kid on Christmas. I couldn't contain my excitement and I absolutely loved it and plan on returning as soon as I can. The attention to detail amazed me and it felt like I was a wizard buying everything for my first year at Hogwarts. Imagine that you stepped out and landed right in the middle of Diagon Alley and you are purchasing all the goods H needed for your year at Hogwarts. It was truly amazing, you'll have to experience it when you have the chance, especially if you're in Florida. I have noticed that it is the experience that creates the magic for the guest. I am glad that magic lives on in everyone that visits Orlando.

Between Walt Disney World and Universal, there is magic that surrounds Orlando and it is ever flowing. Orlando leaves the real world behind and enters a world of where dreams become reality. I can't wait to keep writing about my experience over the next 4-5 months of living in Orlando and seeing the sights. This program is off to a great start and I'm ready to see where it takes me. Before I'll know it, it will be over.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
