11 Reasons Why I Eat From The Kids Menu, Even Though I Am A Full-Grown Adult

I am twenty-years-old and am not ashamed of the fact that I eat from the kid's menu at restaurants.

I know we're all guilty of eating from the kid's menu, and I want you to know you are not alone. I fully support it and so does the rest of our Odyssey Team here at Kentucky. It's not a big deal for real, there are so many perks to the kid's menu! It's not our fault the adult menu doesn't have as many pros. Here are some reasons why I grub the same as wee little kids, and why maybe you should too.

Offers foods you can't find on the regular, adult menu

smile french fries

That's right, some simple things I can't find like a side of fries or SMILEY FRIES? Maybe I want to opt out the asparagus for some mac and cheese? One time I wanted some plain cheese ravioli and marinara, and they only had it on the KIDS MENU!

It's much cheaper

kids meal

This is probably one of the biggest perks, it's so much more affordable. A kids meal can be up to ten dollars less than a regular meal, including better deals. I'm a college student on a budget, I don't need anything fancy, just some food to get me through the year, and the kid's menu's got my back. My wallet is happy and my tummy is full.

It can be really cute

pancakes

They can be adorable! I love chocolate crepes with designs on them, teeny tiny pizzas, and did I mention SMILEY FRIES? Have you seen what kids meals look like? They have their own little bag/box and everything, it makes you feel extra special.

Smaller portions

food

If you're like me and don't need much food to get yourself full, then the food on the kid's menu is the way to go. I'm that person who always needs to pack things to-go and end up throwing it out anyway. The portions for adult meals are just too big for me and sometimes in an unhealthy way. Also, I eat super slow so kids meals are just overall the best with their sizes.

Lower calories

mac and cheese

Most kids meals hit around the 500-600 calorie mark while adult meals are at least 800-1,500 calories for one meal. I mean that for me is just the icing on the cake for reasons why the kid's menu is obviously superior, it's worry-free.

Get it to-go for game-days

As weird as this may seem, getting kids meals as game-day snacking is honestly a move. I mean you can buy them in bulk and they are so easy to eat. As mentioned before, low price, meaning more food you can grub on for game-day fooding.

You get to color

I know I'm not the only one who misses playing tic-tac-toe or doing a word search or coloring on the paper of the table, kids menus are the only menus that have that and I will continue to order from them. What do you expect me to do while waiting for my food? TALK TO PEOPLE? SOCIALIZE? I'd rather contain my hangry-ness and let it out on my dark coloring than ruin friendships.

Your food comes out first

tacos

Because kids meals are prioritized at restaurants they always tend to come first, before everyone else's, thus the bragging rights.

They actually taste good

Kids food is all around not that bad. Sure it may need some seasoning, but you were going to season your food off of the regular menu anyway, don't lie to yourself like that.

You can put a pause on growing up

Time is moving by super fast and it's okay to take a moment and treat yourself from something off of the kid's menu. Reflect on your past, it's going to get a little emotional, nostalgic even.

Date going bad? Weird dudes at parties? No worries, talk about how to eat from the kid's menu and you will be all everyone talks about. Miss popular you, go you, own it, baby.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
