You are at the grocery store. The din of shoppers, plastic bags, and cash registers are all around you. Well, what do you choose? The orange? Or the lemon?
The old adage is, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But what if you took matters into your own hands and bought lemons in order to make lemonade? Whoa. Revolution. Now think about this. Outside of the crazy corner of Tumblr, where memes of "when life gives you lemons" has already been shredded to pieces, lemons always seem to make lemonade, when in reality there is so much more to make with lemons. If life gives you lemons, why not make lemon cake?
Oranges are usually larger and sweeter, with thin peels that are easier to peel than that of a lemon. You can easily enjoy a delicious fruit.
But why take the easy way out? You miss the fun of trying and creating something new, and the possibility of learning some new skills.
If you create something bigger than what you started with (i.e a lemon cake from a lemon), there is a greater sense of pride and accomplishment that is absent when you merely peel and eat an orange. Don't be afraid of the sour moments in life. There is always a way to make them sweeter. And more than one way to do it.
