It is either now or never.

Opportunities Should Never Be Taken For Granted

As an adolescent, I never took advantage of any opportunity that was in front of me. I often had an opportunity to better myself, usually by building up skills which I could've used to earn extra income. I've often had family members or friends encourage me and push me to achieve something that could have made a positive difference in my life. Do not get me wrong, I am not heading in the wrong direction. It's just that I believe that if I would've taken the opportunities that I have had in front of me, I would've been a lot further in life than I am in now.

At the age of 15, I could have been a mechanic. I had a cousin who was teaching a class and he would often ask my mother if I would of like to enroll. Back in the days, I believed that I did not need the skill because there would always be a mechanic at close distance. I did not see far enough into my future to see this could be a skill that would save me from having unforeseen expenses due to unexpected surprises with my car. The times that I have had to take my car to the shop and the mechanic would charge me something beyond my means makes me want to grab my chest from a small heart attack. This is because I could've been making myself some extra income from fixing cars. I also could've fixed my car on my own without spending an extra penny on hiring a mechanic who might not have enough experience changing an alternator.

The first time that I joined college, I was doing graphic design as well as photography. My school had all of the tools I would need to become successful. I could've rented the photography studio on the campus so I can further my skills of photography. Also, I could have applied what I had learned in graphic designing to the all the pictures I had taken, but I was not wise enough to do so. I remember being active in photography and everyone in my school was digging my skills. Including the concepts, I had to create a unforgettable photo shoot. All of these things could've benefited me immensely. I could've networked with all kinds of different photographers and models so I could learn from any useful advice they had to offer. Same thing as the mechanic example, I could of also use this as a way to make extra funds. Also, I could've taken some pictures of my girlfriend because she would've been my full time model.

All in all, I could've made many 3 pointers in whatever I set my mind to, and I could've been a lot further than I am currently. However, one thing that I will not accept is that it is too late for me to do what I want to do. I can learn about cars, and further my skills in photography, then create my own business in either one. Perhaps even both. Remember, if you do not see an opportunity to do something you have dreamed about, only you can create those opportunities to make those dreams come true. It will never be too late for me to go to a technical college to pursue becoming a mechanic, and save myself some money whenever I have car issues. It will never be too late for me to make my dream of doing something in the photography field come true, but the sooner I do it, the better it will be. Stop waiting, there is never a right time to do what you want. It is either now or never.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
