America has a problem that many citizens prefer to acknowledge. Many unarmed citizens have been shot and killed on video by police officers that are not charged and or convicted of murder. Many of these cases seem to show that the officer used excessive force with the intent to kill an unarmed citizen.

Why is it so difficult to convict officers that commit murder? Why aren't more citizens outraged that the people paid to protect all citizens are getting away with murder? What can be done to reform the Department of Justice?

It's no secret that many of the unarmed civilians that were murdered by police officers in years have been African-American. In these cases, prosecutors and grand juries declined to bring charges against officers, even with video evidence. The few cases that did go to trial juries declined to prosecute. As a result, many are referring to these killings as modern-day lynchings.

Implicit bias plays a large role in how these murders are perceived by the public, whether the killer will be convicted, and is usually the reason many officers kill certain unarmed civilians and peacefully arrest some armed civilians.

This fatal double standard coupled with FBI reports of white supremacist groups infiltrating law enforcement agencies across the United States has caused many people to re-evaluate their opinion of the Department Of Justice.

The current Attorney General was once disqualified from a federal position because he was deemed too racist.

How can the United States address racism and Alt-Right domestic terrorist insurgency within the Department Of Justice, if the department head is part of the Alt-Right movement?

In the aftermath of the tragedies in Charlottesville, VA, many Americans waited patiently for their president to condemn actions of the Alt-Right, Neo-Nazis, and their ideologies.

The president has been reluctant to directly place blame on these white supremacists for the murders and maimings committed by their hate-filled members during their rally in Charlottesville, Va.

It's quite difficult for any rational minded individuals to believe that a politician that provided press passes to the KKK and various Neo-Nazi groups to his rallies isn't purposely pandering to them in the very least.

These rallies were like traveling Klan rallies, where he spent time blaming the nation's problems on Hispanics, Muslims and African Americans promising to get rid of people to "Make America Great Again"

There are many viral videos of him personally having people of color from his rallies even though many of them were his supporters, undecided voters, or silent protestors.

The empowerment of these hate-based groups seems to be a direct result of their perceived support from this administration.

If we're going to address racism in the United States we need to have an administration that doesn't accept donations from hate-based domestic terrorist organizations.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
