An Opinion and An Analysis of Uber

Living in 2016, new businesses and tech industries and tech startups come and go. Uber is one of those startups that came out of nowhere, and has made a name for it self. Uber has been able to understand a factor of life that could use improvement, which is the aspect of transportation. People have been getting around sufficiently without Uber, however Uber makes getting from a to b possible in a different light. There are a few aspects to why Uber is so successful, however there are some downsides as well.

There are a few main reasons why and how Uber has maneuvered its way to the top. Uber breaks the barrier that people were afraid to jump into. Many people first questioned Uber on its rational, thinking many people would hate Uber because its virtually giving yourself and putting yourself in the hands and responsibility of a stranger. This is a scary thought without context, yet Uber gives this scary idea and makes it a reality. Uber breaks the wall of suspicion, and makes the whole process so out of ordinary that people want to get more involved. Uber is an interesting sociological study, however has also become a large company, continuing to grow. Another reason Uber is changing the world, is because it connects hand held technology with real life occurrences. Wherever you may be, if you have a mobile device, Uber can get to you. Uber has become a new phenomena, kicking other ways of transportation to the curb.

However, Uber has some downsides as well. From personal experience, when everyone is relying on Uber, then there becomes some problems. If everyone wants an Uber all at the same time, the price shoots right up and then its much harder to get and no one wants to get it. The other night, I ended up accidentally paying 25$ for an Uber to go approximately one mile. This is the extreme case, however Uber prices can still be a problem, even when there are so many Uber drivers. Overall, Uber is a new and fascinating renovation on transportation, it is an easy and accessible way to get from point a to point b especially in 2016.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
