Dear Mr. Trump,

I’ve held off on making a political article for quite some time now, because I thought I should give you a chance, but it’s time I said something.

I’m a young Democrat. I didn’t vote for you in 2016, and I definitely won’t vote for you in 2020. You don’t represent me or my beliefs, and in fact, you don’t represent half of the American people.

When you won the election, I was devastated. Until November 8, 2016, I had hope for the future of America. I had faith that we would continue to make progress toward equality for all and a better America. But I woke up on November 9 not quite knowing what our future would hold. I no longer had complete faith that progress would be achieved. I thought that all our valiant efforts were for nothing, that evil had won this time.

But I decided to give you a chance. When you were inaugurated, I thought, “maybe this won’t be so bad after all. Maybe we’ve blown this all out of proportion.”

And I tried, I really did. I approached this new government with an open mind. But my post-election suspicions proved to be right. Since day 1, you have done nothing but tear down the foundations of this country. Your blatant disregard for our Constitution and your lack of knowledge of our entire system of government offends me and gives you no right to be an elected official.

I don’t like Trump’s America. I don’t like that millions of Americans would lose their healthcare under the bill you have proposed. I don’t like that you backed out of the Paris Climate Accord, which all but two other countries have agreed to, and which even North Korea has signed. I don’t like that you continue to insult and degrade all your constituents, especially those from minority groups. I don’t like that you communicate primarily through Twitter, and end almost every tweet with “Sad!”. I don’t like that you continue to talk about “crooked Hillary” and her emails, even though you yourself have broken the law on many occasions. I don’t like that you fired James Comey just because you were afraid he would investigate you for your ties to Russia. I don’t like that your cabinet is full of old, unqualified white men. I don’t like anything that you’ve done since you were inaugurated, and I don’t believe that you genuinely care about the United States or its people.

One good thing has come out of your presidency, though. Before you came into the picture, I never saw political articles or political posts on my Facebook timeline. I never saw high school and college students holding rallies and political activism campaigns in their schools. I never heard people my age talking about politics. But now this changed. Politics seems to be all people can talk about nowadays, and even people who claim to hate politics and government can’t help but talk about it.

Beware, Mr. President. These young people are watching. They’re paying attention. They’re voting. And they’re not going to let this continue.

If you’re still president by the 2020 election (and I highly suspect you won’t be), people aren’t just going to forget all of this. They’re going to remember all the ways you tried to ruin their lives, and they’re going to vote accordingly.

So if you want to remain the most powerful person in the country, if you want to remain a world leader, I highly suggest you start listening to the American people, and I highly suggest you think before you act.

Sincerely,

A concerned young American

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

3030
Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
