Every morning, when I am getting ready for the day, I open my bible to a random page and read the first verse I see. I am not sure why I do this, but it is a habit that I have started to form and I personally enjoy it. Being able to read a new verse, or chapter depending on my mood, every day gets me through the week and surprisingly, almost every day the verse that I read reflects something that I am going through. I'm not sure how, but I feel as though God speaks to me through this. He is explaining to me that everything will always be okay. I am going to share a couple of these verses just in case you need some motivation throughout the week.
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34 (NIV)
- This was EXTREMELY helpful to me the other day. It is so easy to get wrapped up in everything you think is important. That you can easily start to worry about the things that are in the future, even with how irrelevant some of the little things may be.
"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Matthew 5: 44 (NIV)
- Something that I used to have issues with is thinking and forgiving people who have hurt me in the past. I didn't see a reason in trying to forgive someone who was rude to me. But the moment I started praying for them I felt as though there was a giant weight lifted off of my shoulders.
"Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal." Isaiah 26:4 (NIV)
- Many different things have happened in my life recently. The other morning when I read this verse, it was the exact thing I was looking for. I have learned that as long as I keep my trust in His plan, nothing can go wrong. God has everyone's life planned and there is no other person I would rather trust with my life.
"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)
- This verse speaks to me on many different levels. There are certain circumstances where guarding your heart can be taken in many different ways. Some people may take it literally and refuse to let anyone into their heart. I have taken this to mean that you need to guard your heart because it is the most valuable part of your body. God has asked to live in your heart, so you must make sure that nothing bad can happen to it.
"Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." 1 John 3:18 (NIV)
- This is simple. Love with your actions. Show others that you love them by what you do, not by what you say. Telling someone that you love them is a lot easier than showing someone that you love them.
This habit I have formed gets me through the day every day. Knowing that I have someone who is always looking after me comforts me throughout the day. I know I am not perfect and the things that I have pulled from these verses may be entirely wrong, but this is what I believe God is trying to tell me.
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with your heart." Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)
