An Open Thank You Letter To My Big Brother

Dear Big Bro,

I just want to start off by saying that I'm sorry for getting all sappy on you, but I've had 20 years of thank you's built up that you deserve (well, sometimes). We obviously have had our fair share of ups and downs but I would never want to call anyone else my brother except you. You make me proud to live up to the name you've established.

Thank you for always sticking up for me.

I know I can be an idiot sometimes and get in fights with mom and dad but it means a lot that you always have my back, even when it is my fault. Thank you for sticking up for me when my friends made me cry, telling me that it was no big deal. And thank you for always having my back when I've been pushed around.

Thank you for making me strong.

Whether it was beating me up for taking your stuff or getting me through tough times, having you by my side made me a stronger person. You taught me how to fight better than just pinching or kicking and you made my punches stronger. You taught me when to suck it up and get over it and when its okay to cry it out. The balance of both helped me be a stronger emotional person.

Thank you for always being down for late night snacks.

When I'm hungry at 12 A.M. I know I can always count on you for a late night McDonald's run or microwavable nachos. It may not seem like much, but it makes me feel a little less worse about myself when you're there to share it with me.

Thank you for taking care of me when Mom and Dad couldn't.

You drove me around for years until I finally could, you babysat me when Mom and Dad were out for the night or weekend (and didn't let me throw parties), and made sure I had food on the table, even if it was just fast food, when the rents were running late that night. It really showed me how much you cared.

Thank you for being the trial run for parenting.

And for letting me get away with more than you did.

Thank you for bringing all your cute friends over for all these years.

Sorry if I gawked a little too much, and thank you for not getting too mad at me about it.

Thank you for being my best friend.

Many siblings are only just that, but I'm lucky enough to know that we aren't. Knowing that I always have someone to grab Chipotle with, or see that movie I've been meaning to watch for a while, or even just someone to text about my latest accomplishments means the world to me. Hanging out with you is when I have my best memories and I always have a million laughs when I tag along with you and your friends. Our age difference seems so minimal when you don't look at me like your "annoying little sister." Sorry that you're stuck with me, but thank you for making the most of it.

Love always,

Your Little Sis

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
