Dear Mother-to-be,
This is not an attack on the Women's March, in fact this really has nothing to do with the march. This has to do with the safety of your unborn child.
I read your article "I Hope I Give Birth at the Women's March" http://www.cosmopolitan.com/politics/a8619602/wome..., and instantly my blood began to boil. You spoke about how your first pregnancy that you had planned to give birth at home, but ended up having to go to the hospital so what made you think that hoping to have your baby with no medication, outside in a crowd of people was a good idea.
I am angry because am I a student in healthcare and this is not a safe plan for you or your child. What if violence had broken out? Would you be prepared to handle that situation at 37 weeks pregnant, swollen feet and aching back. Say you did go into labor and heaven-forbid something goes wrong. You are in an unclean area without medical assistance and with the amount of people there getting an ambulance to you or you to an ambulance would be a feat of its own.
While I commend your support and participation in the Women's March, I ask you to consider the consequences of the health risks for you and your son.
Sincerely,
a concerned healthcare student
