"You don't have to be afraid, fear is just a lie. Open your eyes and you will see he will open the sky."

I know I'm not the only person who becomes envious every time they open up their Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. It's easy to get sucked into the almost perfect world. I'll be the first one to admit that I'm not perfect and to be honest I'm far from it. I'm constantly doubting my choices, self-conscious of my appearance and my anxiety scores to new high heights. Sometimes I'm silently waving my white flag at adult life responsibility. Thinking about going back to middle school where my biggest issue was convincing my mom to buy me a new hair crimper seems too sweet. To be frank, being an adult sucks sometimes. (Sorry to break it to the high school me who couldn't wait to get out into the world.) Now it's not always like this, it's actually exhilarating finally traveling the world and exploring all aspects of life while painting my own path, but you know what? It's OK to focus on the negative sometimes. I'm not the, "Put it on the shelf and leave it there," kind of girl. I'm the let's face this issue so that it's not sitting in the back of my mind haunting me every waking hour. So here's some inspiration for those moments when the issues of life make it seem like the world is crashing at your feet.

It's OK not to be OK.

Sometimes all you need is a "me" hour. Grab a book, a cup of tea and just take an hour to yourself. Sulk a little, cry little and when that hour is over pick your big girl self back up and remember who you are and how you got to be the awesome person you are!

You are important.

God put you on this earth with a purpose in mind. You are special. You are unique. There is nobody else in the world like you. Crazy to think that you are one of a kind. The earth would literally not be the same place without you because there isn't another person quite like you!

Becky with the good hair actually hates her hair.

Social media is a dangerous and scary place. People get to make their lives seem envious and the reality is that person behind the screen isn't always the perfect image you see on your phone. Being perfect is an unrealistic idea. Don't get caught up in those who seem like their lie is way more put together than yours. We all got some type of crap that we deal with daily.

Open your eyes to the beauty of life.

Life is such a beautiful thing; just think living is the longest thing you'll ever do and every day you wake up you have an opportunity to do something you've never done before. You have the ability to start each new day with a clean slate. Take a look at your family, friends, pets, home and job. All of that has some beauty in it. Appreciate it, even the smallest parts of it.

You have the power to be happy.

You control your destiny, your happiness and your life. Take control of your life and choose to be happy. Choose to be the person you want to be and make it happen. You are the dictator of your own life remember that you can be anything you want to be and life every day to the best way that makes you happy.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
