My Valentine,

On this day, I write this letter to tell you how much you are loved. I know at times you feel alone as you watch people around you with their loved ones. You long for that closeness with someone, to feel wanted and loved. You cry out to me in pain, asking me why I haven’t answered your pleas. It hurts to see my child upset, especially on this holiday called Valentine’s Day. This holiday is to remind you why you are loved. Why do you long for this attention from earthly people when your Father loves you more than anyone else can? I write to you to remind you how special you are. I have not and will never abandon you. It is in my words that I tell you this promise.

I knit you together perfectly inside your mother’s womb.

You are perfect in my eyes, trust me for I have made you.

I watched you while you were formed.

I have guided you through every day of your life. Every day of your life I designed in my plan for you.

I knew what would happen before you did.

(Psalm 139:13-16)

It hurts me to see your tears. Why do you cry? I hold you in my arms and protect you. Love and praise me and I will give you the desires your heart longs for (Psalm 37:4). If you delight yourself in me and trust my path for you, I will guide you and make your heart full. You will be happier than you could ever imagine. I have inscribed your name on the palms of my hands (Isaiah 49:16). Everything that happens goes through My hands first. I do this because you are faithful. You are loved and you love your neighbors as I love you. So why do you still long for this earthly love? My love is enough. I am the God of Angel Armies. Angels walk behind you, beside you, and in front of you. You are my treasure.

As you go forward in this day, keep your eyes on me. Do not let the hearts and chocolate fool you. You are not alone. Don’t be upset when you don’t receive flowers from an earthly admirer. I have fields of paradise, gardens that you cannot even imagine. And they are for you with Me in paradise. Go through this day and instead of being upset or feeling alone, take a moment and love on those around you. For you are not alone. Others are feeling just as down as you are. Lift them up. Be my disciple and tell them that they, too, are not alone.

I love you, my treasure.

Love,

God

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
