An Open Thank You Letter To My True Friends
Jessica Rundell

Dear Best Friends,

Earlier this week, I went to the hospital for an emergency surgery and you were there for me. You made sure I wasn't alone at a time when I needed support the most. That is the greatest gift you could have ever given me.

To my boyfriend: I woke up in the middle of the night in awful pain, and you didn't question it or think I was crazy when I woke you up at 5am. You insisted I go to the doctor to get it checked out. You packed an overnight bag for me so I would have everything I needed just in case I had to stay overnight. You ended up staying with me at the hospital for 9 whole hours until my parents were there to take care of me. You held my hand through all the testing and crying and told me it would be okay.

To my best (girl) friend/roommate: I texted you and said I was on my way to the hospital. You called me immediately and told me you would be there as soon as you could. You didn't even know what was going on yet and you were ready to drop everything to be at my side. You sat next to me in that hospital bed and made me laugh at a time when all I wanted to do was cry. You made me feel happy in an awful situation.

To my best (guy) friend: You worked out all the mechanics so I didn't have to. You got me a ride to the hospital, drove everyone else there, and made sure everyone could be there for me. You danced in my room in the ER to make me laugh and somehow you didn't get kicked out. You waited hours just to see me and missed hockey practice to make sure I was okay.

Most importantly, you three were there for me when I needed you most. You made the worst day ever, actually pretty fun. I look back at the day in the hospital and honestly can say that I had a good day because of you guys.

After the surgery, I went home and my grandpa told me something that he learned after being in the hospital many times: You figure out who your best friends are at the hospital. He was absolutely correct.

I knew you guys were my best friends, but I didn't realize what that meant until that day in the hospital. So I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for taking care of me.

Thank you for making me laugh.

Thank you for being there for me when I needed you most.

You are true friends and the best ones in the world. I couldn't have done it without you.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
