Today is Valentine's Day, and I want you to know how special you are to me.

To My Valentine:

I know that I said that I didn't want to do anything big for Valentine's day, but I felt that you deserved something special. So my gift to you, although it still is not a physical thing, is a love letter to end all love letters for one of the most romantic days that there is.

I know that many people think that looks are an extremely shallow thing to like people for, but you have so many amazing physical traits that I am so in love with. First off, your eyes are such a beautiful color. I love looking at them because they just are full of curiosity, compassion and passion. I can't describe how beautiful they are, and I love looking at them. I also love your smile; to be honest, that's my favorite part of how you look. Whenever you smile, it lights up the whole room; it spreads just this infectious happiness, and it makes me happy seeing you smile. Your smile is just the most adorable thing ever, and it makes me so happy to see it. Whether you're smiling at me, with me, with a friend or just smiling just because, it is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Whenever I see you walking down the hall or in class, I get butterflies in my stomach.

You are, of course, a gorgeous person on the outside, but also so beautiful and amazing on the inside. You are incredibly smart and have helped me solve a lot of things without even knowing it. Maybe it's because you read, which is one of my other favorite aspects of you, as so many people nowadays don't read just for fun. I can hold a conversation with you easier as we both read some of the same books. Not only do you read, but you also play video games, completing the adorable nerd package. Not only do you just play video games, you are extremely passionate about them...if you consider "passionate" as a substitute for a slight addiction.

It might've been because of how much you read and play video games, but you have the funniest personality that makes me so happy. We have so many inside jokes that you still remember, which is so amazing, especially after a year of being friends. Whenever I'm with you, I'm so happy because you make it such a fun time. If something bad is happening or I'm just not all that happy, you are able to make me smile. The best thing, too, is your laugh; it's so unique, and it brightens up my day when I hear it. Hanging out with you makes me so happy because we always have the best time, no matter if we have something to do or if we're just bored and messing around.

Of course, you also give the most amazing hugs, and I love them. Sometimes I wish you could just always be there so that we could hug and cuddle. Your hugs make me feel safe and warm at the same time, and just hugging you helps me to feel better when I'm feeling sad. You listen to what I have to say and just take it in, even when I need to rant about anything or if I start to ramble. You don't interrupt, and you are a great listener, but also when you talk your voice sounds so gorgeous and gives me more butterflies in my stomach. You're also extremely kind towards animals, and it's absolutely hilarious and adorable how many photos you have of your pet on your phone. You have more photos of your pet than anything else, and it is the cutest and sweetest thing there ever has been.

There are so many things that are absolutely amazing about you and just make me so proud and happy to be able to say that I am with you. I know that maybe I know nothing about love because I'm young, but it sure feels like it when I'm with you. I'm so glad to be with you, as well as the fact that I get to spend Valentine's Day with you. I hope that your Valentine's Day is as amazing as you want it to be, and I want you to know that I feel this way every single day and that I appreciate you so much, but today is the day that everyone in the world proclaims their love towards their partners and family, and I am finally able to join in.

Love,

Your Special Someone

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
