Open Letter To Trump Supporters

it's about more than his policies

Open Letter To Trump Supporters
Ben Garrison

I was raised to never judge someone based on things like their religious or political views, so although I highly disagree with supporters of Donald Trump I respect their opinions and choice to support this candidate. What I don't respect however are Trump's various racists, sexist, and flat out rude comments. When I expressed this to a Trump supporter her response was rather concerning and slightly offensive, they said, "...He's [Trump] not rude he's speaking his mind and people can't handle it if they don't agree with it,".

Now to the individual that said this comment, if you truly do not believe there is anything wrong with Trump's inappropriate comments then I truly cannot say I respect you or your decision to support him. As a friend of mine said, being a Hispanic female I'd be offended by his comments in more ways than one. Most of all, you are right. I do not agree with his comments because I can't handle the racism he is bringing upon our country and toward Hispanics and other races.

I would actually love to have a talk with you and explain to you why his comments toward Hispanics are wrong because maybe you are just not educated in that sense. You see, my grandparents came from Puerto Rico which means they came legally (in case you didn't know PR was a part of the US) and they worked very hard to live comfortably. My parents, who were born here in the US went on to get college degrees and good paying jobs in places like hospitals.

You may not have assumed that due to what seems to be your close mindedness. What really surprises me is that you being a female, didn't find his comments toward women concerning, like when he called them slobs and dogs. On the other hand, I have Mexican friends who they and their families are here legally and are enrolled in college to pursue careers like being doctors, you know those people that save lives.

Maybe you've never seen a Mexican doctor and that's why you would agree with Trump's comments about Mexicans in general but I assure you they exist (legally) along with teachers, engineers and accountants. They did not "take" these jobs from anyone they were just simply better qualified. I get Hillary Clinton is not the most appealing choice but at the end of they day, should Trump be elected president, I would absolutely hate to live in a country where its citizens think it's okay to degrade people and children with special needs or call women names such as pigs because that’s what Trump did.

Part of Donald Trump’s appeal would be that he can’t be easily influenced by super PACS or the government and often depicts that within his comments, but what people are failing to realize is his comments are a reflection of his character. He is not the type of person you want representing your country, aside from the fact he is not the least bit qualified to do so. Sure you may agree with his policies but I urge you to look deeper into the man you’re supporting and what he truly represents, not to mention none of the current living US presidents support him, because our country is depending on it.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
