An Open Letter To My College Family

I love our little, messed up family.

An Open Letter To My College Family

Dear College Fam,

Thank you for being my college family. Thank you for redefining squad goals. While the group chat can get annoying at times (i mean seriously, I had 105 messages from you guys when I got out of a 50 minute lecture the other day) I love you all and wouldn't change a thing about our messed up family. I know we've all joked about how they could've possibly put everyone who is as equally messed up in one hall with each other.

Despite all the things that make us messed up, we have unconditional love and support for each other. I know if I ever have a bad day, all I have to do is walk back into our hall and there will be people willing to share food, share clothes, listen to me vent and give me hugs. There's always someone to go get food with, someone willing to make a drive into town to get groceries for everyone.

You are all easily some of the greatest and kindest people I have ever met. There isn't enough words to describe how grateful I am for each and every one of you. I will forever be grateful for all of our adventures, near death experiences, laughs, and trips into town together. I don't even want to think about what's going to happen next year when we all aren't in the same hall together. I always feel insanely lucky when I get to brag about how close we all are to someone who tells me their halls are anti-social and don't talk to each other.

I heard someone say the other day that home isn't about where you are but who you're with. So thank you for making our hall a home. It's weird to think that it's barely been five weeks since we've all met each other, it feels like i've known you all for much longer than that.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
