Wow, look at you. Three months ago you just finished one of your biggest semesters of journalism classes, since you finally made up your mind to have a career in writing. And, yeah, you're plunging into yet another hefty semester (seven classes!) but at least it'll all be worth it when you can enroll in future classes without worrying about not having completed pre-requisites and all that other good stuff.
This summer wasn't like all the others where you were always really bored, because this summer you did some really awesome stuff, like seriously awesome. First off, you did one of the greatest things any 20-year-old college student could hope to do: you completed an internship. But not just any internship; your first internship ever! Traveling to the city for almost an hour and a half was pretty drawl (and waking up really early was worse) but I bet you didn't think you'd end up with 35 brand spanking new writing clips in your portfolio in one summer. Yep, 35 more killer articles that are pure genius, if I do say so myself. You also met some awesome people who have made your internship experience 10 million times more fun than you ever imagined.
While we're still talking about writing and killer articles, you did some insane stuff with your blog this summer. You went from a couple hundred pageviews per month to more than 20,000 monthly pageviews, and, no, it wasn't just a lucky break; it's the result of your dedication, attention, and social media (Facebook isn't all that bad, now is it?). Now you just have to keep the progress up during the semester and aim for 100,000 monthly pageviews! I know you probably thought that even just one positive comment on one blog post would be amazing, and it does feel good when people tell you how helpful your post was and how much they loved it. But several comments on your posts feel WAY better, trust me.
You also got to attend your first ever large-scale conference in New York City, so that was pretty cool. You learned some seriously game-changing things from some really established women in the media industry and things could not have been cooler. You'll definitely want to attend the conference again next year, but word of advice for next time: purchase a ticket for both days rather than just one!
So I'm not really sure yet how the fall semester is going to go, but in the meantime look at how great things have been this summer, and just look at you killin' it.
Oh, by the way, you have to keep on killin' it. That's an order.
